I wouldn't look too much into Modi not getting invited. Foreign leaders being invited to presidential inauguration ceremonies is quite rare.Returning_Indian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 7:39 am It is bizarre that Modi wasn't invited to the opening ceremony. Is US India relationship going from bad to worse now? Even worse is they invited Chinese President who refused to attend. Did Musk influence this?
Starlink is obviously not getting entry in India or else it will be a nightmare for Jio and Airtel. Tesla is not allowed entry either. Musk has reasons to be pissed at Modi for these items. India will also face issues in trade negotiations, tariffs will be really bad. Visas are another issue which has already rocked Trump party. I think India is heading for tough relationship with US in next 4years. If Biden was bad, Trump is going to be worse for India.
Indian economy is already showing signs of slowing down compared to last few years. Consumption is plateauing and currency is falling. Taxes are increasing at rapid pace. All this is happening even when Modi has improved banking fundamentals since Congress left it in very bad condition in 2014. Digital India has taken off in big sense and delivering real value. Infrastructure has improved dramatically. All fundamentals are in good place. Except that govt is getting caught in giving freebies now. These freebies are not sustainable and taxes need to go down.

Something has changed in last year or so. I pickup vibes from Youtube and social media. Until 2023 or so, every 2 bit youtuber would bend over backwards to praise India and Indians. Every Indian youtube channel, LinkedIn posts, comment sections were pro Modi, pro BJP, pro India.Returning_Indian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 7:39 am It is bizarre that Modi wasn't invited to the opening ceremony. Last 12 months, esp since 2024 election, its a u-turn. The same youtubers who would praise India are now ridiculing India. Comment sections and LinkedIn posts are now critical of govt. The Modi cult still persists, so they are taking it out on an easier target - Nirmala Sitharaman. As if she doesnt serve at the will of Modi.
Indian youngsters are desperately trying to flee India and are seeing doors shut on them one after the other. GDP numbers even by govt's own calculations and numbers are getting worse (2019-24 worse than 2014-19 and both worse than UPA).
The much talked about infra is literally collapsing under rains and overall not keeping up with population growth and migration (see Bangalore). Gadkari being questioned about potholes on newly built roads. High profile accidents on roads, etc.
Much of these things were true before last 2 years, but now vibe is also shifting. It seems global right wing social media is no longer on India's side. Maybe they have struck a deal with China now and its time to throw India under the bus. Maybe India has outlived its usefulness as counter balance to China.
I fear that once Modi retires, the last bit of goodwill and respect that is shown to India will disappear.

First casualty of Trump is probably Obama's marriage. It looks like Obama's are headed for a divorce. So there goes any chance of Michelle running in 2028.

Biden admin rigged the DC weather and so only 200K (actually only 2K) will witness the inauguration.
