ones living in west are not suited to get piece of that pie. They are used to easy money with the tag of best/brightest. India has lakhs more like them. To get piece of desi pie, will they work 90hr weeks instead of staring at their wives?

I recommend keep milking the land of plenty and stay hidden from wrath of maga.

If one has to work 90 hours to get good money, then its not really milk and honey is it? We laugh at European pay, but they get their pay for 30 hours of work. If they do 3 jobs, then Europe is also land of milk and money by that logic.

There is also another Indian Youtuber called Murrad on the run who talks about global college admissions.

This Murrad guy did only Bcom in India and did some finance courses and managed to get into Oxford university in the UK!

I will give you the real reasons.

- if kids are raised in US, they have no connection or intent to even visit India once they are adult. Parents if they r2i, have to say goodbye to their kids. If someone marries a non-Indian, then even visiting and staying in kid's house for months is no go unlike the parents of first gen who spend 6 months with their son/daughter's family. The fear of not seeing their kids again makes them to stay put. Also as you grow old doing 24 hrs flight is not something body can take.

- when first gen spends 30-40 years in US/abroad with just occassional vacation trip, they become unfit to live in India. They cannot drive, cannnot handle the general life in India. Many of them are caught like a deer in the headlights. Some cannot even cross the road. During younger days they never bothered to setup alternate house with infra like PAN/Aadhar/cell/gas/housing and they become like a Himalayan task for 60/70+ years old. By that time most of their elder generation would have gone to heaven and many are left with no relatives in India.

- I met few of them in 2015 in an Indian RH in Santa Clara. They were waiting for lunch to be delivered at 2pm. I spoke to couple of them. One guy used to teach in Banaras and moved to Kansas as a professor in 1982. He was single, may be divorced or lost his spouse. He was just waiting for his lunch and the situation looked pathetic. I wanted to ask him why doesn't he shift to RH in India but kept quiet. There was another couple with the man aged 82 who has a home in Seattle. He came to Norcal to try out Indian RH as there is none in his area. He was planning to go back to Seattle, sell his home and come back to that pathetic place. Any RH in India is better than that place.

Many LIAs will end up in this situation with kids scooted away, lack of support system for "Indians" in their golden years especially if you are a veggie and people continue to live beyond 80s and 90s.

Based on the multiple 80+ years-old couples that I know personally both Indian and local, they all want to live independently and cherish their independence. When it gets difficult to do so, their children do take care of them as much as the resident Indians do. In many cases more than their resident Indian counterparts maybe because they're relatively well-off. One thing that's non-negotiable for LIA retirees is the estrangement with their children.
PS: I cannot drive and cross the streets in India. I am beginning to lose my hearing as well due to the inordinate noise pollution

He talks about European work culture and says you can make 40-50k and basically be non fireable. And then he says - thats the reason Europe isnt growing (the non fireable part).

This shows the US and Indian mentality. Is the point of life to have a good life or to grow for the sake of growth? I would say based on this that Europeans have a much better life than Americans when it comes to the average.

You could ask me - why am I in US and not in Europe? The answer is - I have figured out how to do European levels of work in US at US salary levels. I have gotten away with it for over 10 years. But this requires some risk taking especially being on a visa for most of my time.

This shows the US and Indian mentality. Is the point of life to have a good life or to grow for the sake of growth? I would say based on this that Europeans have a much better life than Americans when it comes to the average.

You could ask me - why am I in US and not in Europe? The answer is - I have figured out how to do European levels of work in US at US salary levels. I have gotten away with it for over 10 years. But this requires some risk taking especially being on a visa for most of my time.

Let us not burst the myth that Americans work 70-80 hours a week - let's just keep saying "I am swamped" I never worked more than 10 hours a week during my time and my managers maybe 5 hours a week. Most of the time was spent in meetings and water cooler conversations on sports, life in America and politics with a select few.

Two things that are absolutely going for you is driving and your wife's blessings to R2I. Driving drives everyone nuts including the residents, and only way to tackle is to be part of it to relish every inch of forward movement of the vehicle after heavy jostling. Your wife's acceptance to be away from children is also a biggie that's in your favor. Rest of the stuff like aadhar and buying a house are easy-peasy!

I absolutely love driving, even if it is crowded traffic like in Bangalore. If I was totally uneducated, I would have chosen driving as a profession.
