Indians being deported from the US

Post by Returning_Indian »

While deporting illegals is nothing new but for some reason it is all over mainstream media now. More than deportation I am perplexed at the amount of money these people are spending in going there. This one guy from Haryana spent nearly one crore. Another girl went to UK for education and then entered US illegally via mexico and spent nearly 50lakhs. This is obscene amount of money to live illegally in US. What are they hoping to achieve working illegally in US? $10/hr picking fruits in farms and live like slaves? 1crore is a lot of money. In Tier 3 city one can live luxurious life with this money. In village, they never have to work in their life with this kind of money. This is beyond insane.

All that is fine but to spend 1cr to pick crops at $10/hr is just plain stupid. And people are generally very careful with money. I am missing the whole story.

That is what fomo does and there will be stories of falana dimkana person from the village went to US and became a millionaire there.

Also I have seen some YouTube videos, where well educated people who left white collar jobs in India, like working for HDFC/ICICI bank credit card sales etc and move to Europe and work in McDonald's and drive Bolt/Volt etc

To them, cleaning toilets in developed country is better than living in India and slogging it out in a metro city. Imagine how much a sales person in a metro in India get after all the slogging, they say atleast there is work life balance in Europe and their kids get citizenship and they have a shot at better life.

WTH is this Acharya guy and why he's being judgmental and deciding on what anyone should do in the most private activity as dreaming: roll:
I was at a recently opened eatery a few steps from my apartment in Bangalore. I wanted to try out something different than Idli, Dosa and asked for the Gobi fried rice that was on the menu written on the blackboard. The owner could not find the cook for this and quipped to his wife that "we pay him 3000 INR (a month) and a free room) and still he doesn't have the discipline to show up to work on time". So, folks are still making such a low salary and this cook if ever immigrated to the US, can make at least 2000 USD a month- a fifty-fold increase in his salary - won't this 'holier-than-thou' Acharya guy move mountains to get such a life-changing bump in income?!
Most of them don't have crores lying around but more likely than not took out loans from sharks.

Would I ask anyone to do this? No but at the same time would I judge and belittle their extraordinary efforts to make the lives of their family better? Hell NO!
All they have is hard labor and it looks like a decent strategy to move to a place where it's more valued and in demand.

There is a huge hue and cry here in India about the way the Illegal immigrants from India were treated when they were deported (put in shackles, treated like criminals). Main stream and social media is full of this news and there is a lot of outrage. I see a clear double standard here. You see a number of news articles on regular basis here in the local news about illegal Bangladeshi immigrants being 'rounded' up. These immigrants are arrested, put in jail before deported to Bangladesh and they are considered as criminals (and sometimes terrorists). So, we are perfectly fine the way these illegals from Bangladesh are treated (most of them are just manual labor trying to survive), but we don't like the way US treats our people who went there illegally?

Hue and cry is because this is a blow to ego of India which sees itself as a peer to US and Europe on the world stage. In reality, it is nowhere near the like of Mexico, let alone US and Europe.

Is the hue and cry only from the opposition parties? What's BJP's response to this? Have they started branding the deportees as anti-national Khalistanis yet?!

it's another one of those shahin baug issues which was fabricated protest. Opposition funded by blue state/deep state/whatever state trying to build an issue over a matter which nobody cares about. And this is the reason the opposition keeps losing elections. Real issue is taxes, jobs, cost of living, healthcare, religious etc and opposition guys are talking about some criminals being chained. To an average Indian, they don't even know/understand or care what this is about.

But I do feel that there was no need to put these people in shackles and on top make a video and release on social media by US authorities. Classic clase of local politics mismatch with their international relations. But then again it's a reflection of their general disdain of brown people in the US. Reddit is full of stories on how racists feel empowered and openly harassing brown people. Even in hospital settings where browns are saving their lives. For Indians it's best to stay in deep blue states with lot of highly educated immigrant population.

Bangladesh immigration is a big problem, especially in North East/west Bengal. They are changing the demographics and disrupting the local population way of living. It's about them being muslim while local population is different religion/culture. Earlier they got the land as they couldn't live with Hindus and now they want to come here illegally. These people have no shame. Pakistan is also trying to take advantage of this issue by creating another terrorist hotbed in Bangladesh. Afterall, that is their area of expertise. And unlike Pakistan border, Bangladesh is a porous border and a big security risk now. If not managed now, it will be a big problem in Indian cities which will be infiltrated by muslim terrorists from Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is hope of India that with Trump in office, US will stop it's support of destabilising Bangladesh. And their Islamic fundamentalists will not stay in power for very long.

I don't agree with everything Acharya Prashant says. But some things, I resonate with him.

First of all, there are countries worse than India to make a living.

India is so wealthy because of the land boom and these people are selling their ancestoral land due to fomo to go to the land of "milk and honey".

No loan shark will give them so much money as they know they won't get it back.

This is just classic case of fomo and it has nothing to do with opportunities in India.

I have faced this myself, peer pressure and everyone is going abroad, the jugaad mindset sets in and I don't want to do the hard work of cracking GMAT or GRE, so I got admission into a diploma mill in Canada called Humber.

But eventually, sense prevailed. I was like if I can't make it big in my own country, where I am upper caste privileged person, what chance I have as a 3rd class brown pest in a western country? Remember there are top talent Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Irani etc who all want to go to US. So my competition is against the best of best in the world and those people are 100x more desperate than me. I will have to stand in line along with these people.

So I stayed back in India, worked my way to get into IT and then got onsite, minted money and now I go back to India

We are all dealt with certain cards when we are born and it is upto us to make the most of it. Just fomo and following other people and taking the short cut is doomed for failure.
