LOL -No one was waiting for Dhoni to retire! In fact, he retired when he was 33 from test cricket and 37 from ODI and T20I. Even in his last ODI, everyone was counting on him to win the semifinal until a brilliant runout, he walked in when the score was 24-4!

It was his style of batting all along. Play cautiously at first and then put pressure on the bowlers in the last couple of overs and he pulled it off more often than not.
I admired him even before he started playing for CSK. He almost never holed out in the deep and very rarely got run out. So, if he had played higher up in the order, he would have broken all records as evidenced by his 183 and 148 in his earlier years. But either he wanted or was forced by Greg Chappell to come down the order to bat with the tail and be the finisher, one of the best all-time along with Bevan and Hussey.

It was surprising that WI and SL didn't even qualify for champions tournament. This is really sad for once great teams. WI has been on decline for a while and lately victims of the internal politics. Their players are more interested in playing for leagues than for their country. SL with once mighty silva and ranatunga are not able to get anything going. Is it a result of their internal political struggle that they are not giving opportunities to right class of players?

Minnows like Bangladesh and Afghanistan have done tremendous progress in last decade.

Empty stands even for a game featuring India. ODI cricket is dead unless they adopt the changes proposed by Sachin way back when. Even I cannot come to grips with watching ODIs, but I like watching test cricket between top teams since it's a different ball game. Not sure why they have not discontinued ODIs especially after India's WC final loss at home. Maybe it would be finally gone once Rohit and Kohli retire since it's the only format they perform decently.

LOL. Around US population of 300million people were watching it on jio app. Many many more on TV. Even a dud SA vs Afg was seen by around 80million people. And that's just India. Numbers would be much more if Pakistan, Bangladesh and rest of the world audience were included. This is what brings in advertisers and revenue. Everywhere I go people are watching Parks, shops, restaurant, malls. Worst is people in cars watching on the car screen while driving.

I am curious to see the numbers of India/Pak match. I think it will hit around 500million people in India on jio app alone. These numbers are way more than IPL viewers. If TV and app were included I think number may reach 600-700million people in India. Another 200million from Pak/Afg/Bang. Around billion people watching a match.

Jio app has added a link to visit advertisers on the side of the advert. So people can click and directly visit the link. I remember seeing it in ipl. This is so much beneficial for advertisers than on TV or stadium. Here they see the reaction to advert in live environment. Even if 1% of the people click that's 5million people visiting your site.
