Hopefully Virat will fire in the final.
Don't think he will be around for 2026.
Virat would either fire in the final or (made to) FIRE after the final! Seriously, he should perform since every local I have spoken to rants and raves only about him.
Perfect game for India yesterday and enjoyed it thoroughly amidst all the beats and dancin. Too bad they tried to fill the stadium with school kids, since it is too hard to get to any of these countries with very limited flights. I listed my spare India Semifinal match ticket for $20 and still there were no takers. Tried to get to Barbados for the final but again no flights available and no ferry service.

Tried hard to get to Barbados but with no success. In hindsight, it's better that I could not make it since I might have walked out of the stadium with 30 runs off 30 balls to beat the crowds. Great teamwork by India and a fairytale ending for Rohit and Kohli. My player of the match would be Pant or whoever behind him for taking a "fake break" after the 16th over that upset Klassen's momentum and thinking. Klassen probably started wondering if he should go hard as he was doing till that time or proceed cautiously and got out the very first ball after the extended break and the chokers choked again. Finally, all those 17 years of IPL culminated in something spectacular!

Made a few friends on the trip and an unknown angel - At the semifinal, I had not eaten anything until 3 PM from 4 AM since I had no cash, and the vendors were not accepting credit cards. A local guy who came from nowhere and sat next to me and I asked him if there was a restaurant nearby that accepted credit cards, he said no and handed me 5000 GYD (25 USD) in a flash seeing my sorry face. I had no choice but to accept it for "paapi pet" and spent 2000 GYD on fries and returned the rest to him and he left right afterwards!

Nita Ambani appearing emotional and shedding tears in calling World Cup heroics during her son’s sangeet was so hilarious. She has become such a drama Queen :x

Pre wedding celebrations (two of those), Sangeet, wedding and then may be post wedding ceremonies..movie stars and pop stars in attendance to entertain the guests, 2500 dishes on the menu.. this extravaganza is everywhere in Indian media, it is almost as if you can't open a news page or watch a news channel without some pictures or clips from those celebrations. It is their money and they have every right to spend it whichever way they want, at the same time I have every right to criticize this vulgar display of wealth that too in a poor country like India!
I have a small suspicion that mentally sound peopl would not indulge in this kind of utterly ridiculous display of wealth, what point they are trying to prove?

I also don’t know what they are trying to prove..
Even if they want to do elaborate mehndi, Sangeet, Wedding, Reception, it should be 4 days function at the max.

They had 3 day pre-wedding ceremony at Jamnagar in March.
They had multi-day cruise party in Italy in May and created issues for the locals there with loud music in wee hours.
Now due to traffic re-direction due to their multi-day functions, they are creating traffic issue in Mumbai. First of all, Mumbai residents are affected due to rain/natural hazards and now this.

This is not ‘Our money and we spend it how we like' any more when their multi-month showoffs affect lives of others.

But our Modiji or the other esteemed colleagues of his govt will not utter one word against them.
But on positive note, bollywood bigwigs used to grace functions hosted by Subrata Roy (Of Sahara) and Vijay Mallya( King Fisher) likewise.
So may be Ambanis will be next to be brought back to earth :)

SAPPORO wrote: Thu May 23, 2024 11:36 am Please share more of your travel stories since it would help me immensely. Did you go the Tobago islands? What's there to do in POS anyways, I am scheduled to be there for 5 nights.
5N in PoS is too much. Max 2 days should be enough. Not many places to see - there is a seaside temple, Hanuman mandir, few India style markets as island has 47% PIOs. I did not go to Tobago due to shortage of time. You have to take a flight to the island and it is mostly beaches, water sports and tropical forest/natural beauty. Don't take ferry as the sea gets rough and if you have motion sickness then it will be a problem.

Stay in PoS for 2 days and 2 days you can spend in Tobago island.

We spent 3 days in Barbados - Gary Sobers, Greenidge and Garner's hometown. Barbados has nice beaches. We went for swimming in the Caribbeans and spent half day in the resort poolside drinking rum that was invented in the island. Barbados has no Indian presence, mostly AA population.
SAPPORO wrote: Thu May 23, 2024 11:36 am Sunny also hit 124 in the first innings of the same test, and I vividly remember hearing it on Radio in Tony Cozier's voice and I was all of 5-months old :)
The SF is not going to be in Queens Park oval and it's in the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, some 50 miles away and so I am hoping to sell those tickets for a good price!
Oh ok, my objective was to walk in the Queenspark Oval where Sunny hit 220 and saved the fifth test match. The second test in PoS is which India won and Sardesai hit a century there. Queenspark has Brian Lara stand and paintings of all great WI players outside. Lara's statue is placed in the city center. He is everywhere in the city. Guide showed us his mansion atop a hill but he was in India busy with IPL. Otherwise we could have gone for a "chai pe charcha".
Inspired by you, I was also able to walk in the Queens park as well! The security guard nice to let us into the museum area, player's gym and the ground. I was extremely happy and shared my pictures with a beaming smile to near and dear. I also saw Brian Lara cut the line right in front of us as soon as we landed at the POS airport. Spent only a day in POS and had a full day taxi tour including Hanuman mandir, temple on the sea and the permanent Indian expo outlet. All Hindu houses have flags in their front yard. POS seems to be decent with amazing views from the hilltops. Spent three days in Tobago and enjoyed the beaches, the rain forests and the abundant fresh fruits. Returned to POS for the Afg semifinal and what a huge disappointment that was!
