LIA keeping brain active and keeping life on toes is a good thing , making relevant and one can keep working beyond 65 if health permit. On the other hand it's taxing for me and wife keep on working in this toxic env to bring money to fund our children college, living expenses etc plus high exp in BA. May be we should have moved to US prior to 2022 or may be more qualified ourselves well for both of us to get a good job.

Any way no regrets atleast we tried our bit in R2I,R2A. I have started believing truly US like kind of robbing youth life between 26 to 40 that was not case 15 to 20 years back. When we move to R2I second our children will not come to India as frequently as we did.

Yeah, second R2I should give you more time to relax and get the US exposure whenever you want

IMO. you should consider moving to get the in-state tuition for your DS and to enjoy a lower COL. Bay area can be brutal if you had not moved there in the last 10-15 years.

Yes. Wisconsin/Boston are the two different places my children. only wisconsin possibly and we paying the price for a sun shine state, social fabric. Given the job market and agony of being IT/long hours for wife in school work, we are thinking of returning early then we had anticipated.... Its the next 1 1/2 year expenses for my son under grad, and daughter to get a job.

Appreciate your perspective here. Our thought process was multifold.
1. Our longer term goal is/was to settle down in India for good including kids settling down in India. That meant, they sit in IIT/NEET exams and do their undergrad from Indian school. Everything/everyone suggested CBSE for that goal.
2. We also wanted more assimilation into India for kids. IB and other international schools meant they would continue to live in their american bubble and not experience real India and indian people with it's good bad and ugly.
3. Considering transitioning is harder in higher grade and CBSE being easiest and IB being hardest, we thought of going easy on kids in initial year so that they get used to their new surroundings before getting creative around education.
4. We didn't have a crystal ball to anticipate how things will go.
5. CBSE being more prevalent, it would be easier to find other better CBSE school if we were to move cities/areas within major metros and country due to job and other scenarios.

Response
- Haha. We have had the same plan of not returning back to US. I lived in india for 15 years (may be the longest) and returned to USA.
- We never had the crystal ball now or earlier.
- I think like bruce lee said, we have to be floater.... CBSE is not used to be what it was earlier . some of the IB schools may be better since they give credit during UG years and some US schools weigh it.
- even after assimilation well in india and returning back.... there are queries being asked by my children how much we really gained .
- is it travelling with in india - pilgrimage, historic sites, relatives place
- is it being part of functions, ceremonies and visits to hospitals visiting relatives
- is it dressed up well for the occassion
- is it struggling through studies in rat race... trying live up to some level
I am sure we can put together a value as well for it
