I think you misunderstood my post. I wasn't implying sex/dating. That's really tame. Rather, the rampant drug abuse and the peer pressure that nudge many students into making horrible life choices. There's a reason why US has a Fentanyl issue in it's schools & colleges, the drug network reaches far and wide along with the student loan industrial complex.

I think the drug issues with youngsters are overblown. GenZ doesnt even drink as much as Boomers, let alone drugs. Most of these drugs are taken by middle aged white rednecks in Ohio. Not college students.

You have no idea. Ever watch the movie Trainspotting? That was practically my dorm in college (coke was the main drug; no fentanyl back in the day). No rednecks from Ohio - they're all wealthy trust fund babies who magically got out of DUIs every 3-4 months.

Now I'm in no way implying all students are rabid drug addicts but even if you slip up a little, quite a lot of things can go wrong.

And when did you go to college? How many decades has it been? Younger generations are actually more conservative with drugs and alcohol.

And you say you went to a dorm with drugs, would you say your life has been a failure as a result?

And if they are trust fund babies with no consequences, good for them i guess?

Obama was president during my UG. The trust fund babies got bailed out alright, but there were others who are not so wealthy that decimated their life with drugs and got saddled with student loans.

Anyways, I'll conclude this by saying that my lived experience was very different from what they show on TV. There's a lot of fun for sure, but like I said in my prior post - even if you drop the ball once you can end up in a very nasty place.

Seeing a post election bump in hiring. Got one offer and close to another one and both remote! Wife is hybrid and the good news is, she escaped layoff this time, bad news is this ties us down to Bay Area for now. My pay in a state like WA or even interior CA would have gone much farther.
