For context mn_op has already retired in India and here is his video on how much is enough
I am in the same league as mn_op as far as expenses is concerned(my underwear and socks both have holes

)
When you are travelling solo, you can stay in a hostel.
When you are travelling with your wife, you need a decent hotel.
When you are travelling with your wife and daughter, you may need a palace.
Now extrapolate that to life!

I see your point, however, my wife and daughter are both just like me. That way I am blessed. Also everything is relative. In a country of 1.4 billion people, the number of people who spend more than 1L a month is probably 0.01%.
Also, your peer group and extended family and relatives with whom we interact, matters. My entire peer group, doesn't spend even 50k a month.
We are the only people who went onsite in our family for 16 years and coming back. Now if multiple people in my family were all living in US and those in India living in massive bungalows/2 cr flats, then that peer group would have made our life difficult. But fortunately, it is not like that. My uncle is the richest person in our family and his networth is maybe 5cr and his lifestyle is not stingy but still it is not extravagant. 1L a month gives you very good lifestyle in Bangalore, if you stay in the native/local circles of Bangalore.
If you go to the indiranagar/kormanagala kind of IT circle then it is clearly not enough.

This guy in video is in 40s and lives in Maharashtra while mn_op is over 60 and lives in Bangalore. This guy from video returned long back while mn_op is still collecting dollars selling his expensive furniture to desperate desis in CA. No?
I think his I'd was something different, forgetting now. I think he published a book as well.

Mn_op is a mythical figure that rarely posts on this forum, and you got him confused with OS2, the adventurist that's laying down the road map for retirement in India.
