Re: Trump 2.0
Is Rishi hoping for a position in the Trump admin after the humiliating defeat in UK?

Re: Trump 2.0
India has hundreds of news channels trying to one-up each other. They scour for all tabloid news to make it breaking news. This is similar to the Obama divorce rumor that was also mainly in Indian media. Latest twist is that the man Barrack Obama is having an affair is Jennifer AnistonRBee wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 6:07 pm I was not able to find this news on the main stream and reliable portals like AP News, Reuters, BBC etc.
All most all of the links are from India and original report was on TOI; TOI’s article was the only source cited in India Today, Hindustan Times, MSN India etc.
How reliable is the original source? TOI is not known for its integrity in last 2 decades.
If parents are legal immigrants with temp visas like H1/J1/L1 etc, they will get the coverage through their employers and get to adjust status of their new borns when parents get GC/USC. They will pester their Ob/Gyn to deliver early risking the health of mother/baby seems like unreliable news because IMO newly expectant couple’s foremost worry is healthy delivery of the baby and post natal coverage by medical insurers and least worry on birth citizenship. Only if they are here illegally and were hoping to become legal through their kids, I find it believable.
Anyway birth right citizenship executive order is challenged by multiple states and it won’t be implemented without significant legal fight.

Laken riley act has passed. It means states can now sue India for not taking back it's illegal immigrants and ask courts to issue blanket bans on visas to India and revoke existing visas. Some say this is the tool maga will use against H1b visas. They will use state like texas and conservative judges there to seek blanket bans. Interesting times.
Meanwhile, China has made efforts to court India post Trump. Nobody in India trusts china post Nehru debacle but still interesting changes in geopolitical situations.

I saw it on many youtube channels by some well known US liberals hosts, certainly would not call them unreliable. Print media is anyway very selective in what they report. Does anyone even read them anymore?RBee wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 6:07 pm I was not able to find this news on the main stream and reliable portals like AP News, Reuters, BBC etc.

In any case, it doesn't take much for vulnerable population to be put in panic mode. People on visas from India will not get GC for 20-50yrs. So kids by that time age out. There are plenty of stories on redditt where kids who came to US at very young age are now graduating from high school and running the risk of f1visa being denied for college. They cannot show ties to their home country, a basic principle for f1 visa. This birthright rule will have significant impact on families living here on visas.
After roe vs wade failure, nothing can be said about conservative courts. After listening to some arguments by some pandits from conservative side, they do present some good legal arguments and leave lot of room for supreme court judges to decide.

Re: Trump 2.0
so what exactly is going on. Jennifer is saying no. Some say it's not women. Michelle is missing from some prominent functions. Obama is having dinner alone, which is so unusual.SAPPORO wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:12 am

I am thinking JD vs Michelle in 2028. Provided they don't mess it up. Usha answers brilliantly during interviews and maga voters just love her, for now.

Obama deported millions and even 'sleepy Joe' deported record number just last year https://www.indiatoday.in/world/us-news ... 2024-12-20 - both without anyone noticing and no threats of taxes (tariffs) on Americans. Now I have to pack a few kgs of coffee powder from India!JINSAKAI wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 5:13 pmColombia is facing the consequences of denying US planes to landReturning_Indian wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:26 pm Laken riley act has passed. Re: Trump 2.0
Of all the executive actions the easiest that would pass SCOTUS muster would be the reform of the birthright citizenship. There are lots of loopholes open for interpretation and won't be surprised even if a couple of liberal justices side with the conservative majority.Returning_Indian wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:40 pmI saw it on many youtube channels by some well known US liberals hosts, certainly would not call them unreliable. Now there are quotas similar to traffic tickets for the local cops- https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/trump ... cae4&ei=35
Hopefully, y'all are stocked up on Dal, Chawal etc.., since Indians are the second largest group of illegals in the US and there may be raids in grocery stores. Carry your papers with you at all times to avoid the hassle now or don't carry it if you are hoping for a compensation payment in the future for the discrimination/harassment when the dust settles down

Re: Trump 2.0
Trump has already blamed DEI for the DC plane crash. Now the hunt begins for a high ranking woman or non white man in either the ATC or the US Army. Pilots are men and white and white passing, so thats ruled out.
