In olden days, when MIL ruled over DIL in joint families, she made sure DILs always were kept busy in some work.
So already cleaned rice, wheat, jawar, toor daal etc had to be cleaned everyday as MIL would contaminate those containers with small stones/mini pebbles again!!

Joe Biden did the same thing with a phone call - MX agreed to send 15000 troops to their border to try stop drug moving to US (no amount of troops can stop drug movement into the US as long as there is demand for drugs in the US, that is a different story). What trump achieved is more or less the same thing, but he did with so much drama and disruption just like a petulant toddler!

Look at the terms of every 'deal' - very simplistic and window dressing with very little details. Mexico already agreed to curb Fentanyl related imports a couple of years ago. In return US reaffirmed to clamp down illegal weapons exports. It's mostly just saber rattling.

Like everything Trump he let's go the elephant while obsessing over the fly. Most if not all Potassium mines in the US are controlled by Canadian firms that artificially limit production, hence forcing farmers in US to buy expensive fertilizer from Canada. No talk of this anywhere.

We got a kindergardener as POTUS with access to nuclear button. Elon is running the show behind the scene with 20+ years old students as his staff.

Based on reddit posts, nobody is taking this offer as the funding for this is not approved by Congress. Only people who have jobs lined outside or close to retirement (within a month) have said yes. Condition of offer is that you or union cannot sue the govt and govt can rescind the offer at anytime. It has gone to all federal workers including doctors/nurses at VA. They are hoping that 10% of the workers will take this offer.

I thought next will be layoff when this 8 months package will not be provided. Anyway lot of people in DC metro area are going to be unemployed. Many are deadwoods and will not be able to get a job in the private sector. It is going to be a turbulent times for many.
