Watched https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Baskhar in Telugu- informative and entertaining movie around tariffs/custom duties/ Bank receipts and Harshad Mehta scam. It inspired me to buy multiple Apple products before tariffs kick in - would hate to smuggle them in like they did TVs back in 1980 and 90s in India. The Mehta wala scam would also happen soon in the US with lots of bubbles floating around.
Brilliant acting by Dulquer!

Re: New movies from OTT
I got the latest iPhone 16 Pro Max, upgraded my Apple watch and got new iPad air for wife. She got her Pixel watch upgraded. Getting the latest toys before leaving US forever. At least for next 3 years I do not have to worry about upgrades. In India these products sell at a premium. Plus $1300 for iPhone does not look expensive when you get monthly payment plan but 1.4L rupees is too much of money. Ded lakh ka phone kyun retirement ke baad? I am going to sit at home for most part of the day and hardly look at iPhone. More time is spent on YT on TV and news channels. Nowadays all the channels in India are Godi media, so that is good.
Planning to watch Sabarmati Express when it comes out on OTT.

Re: New movies from OTT
Watched 3 movies in recent time. I think all 3 are from the south and very likely dubbed in Hindi.
1) Lucky Bhaskar
2) Maharaja
3) Kantara
LB- was a good time pass if you enjoy that time of financial crime movie.
Maharaja- Was good movie to watch. I liked that actor out of all South actors. ( don't re call his name.)
Kantara-- much-hyped movie, A Disaster... It took me one year to complete this movie. I can't believe this was a hit; very likely hevay marketing like Jawan and fooling people. I am still trying to figure out what the movie was all about...
No energy to watch Pushpa 2-- I think I stop Pushpa 1 somewhere Half...
I think I am getting old... Can't enjoy 90% of movies now days...

Re: New movies from OTT
I too watched 3 movies in recent days.
1) Lucky Bhaskar -> Netflix-> Ok but wish fooling banks and moving to USA through investor visa and owning a palatial home and chauffeur driven cars was so easy
2) Amaran-> Netflix-> A bio based on Ashok Chakra recipient(posthumous) Mukund Varadarajan. Good but wish the story focussed more on his heroics(howmuchever wasted it looks as these soldiers keep giving their life for a lost cause as new terrorists emerge if one is killed) than the love story between couple. I get that Sai Pallavi doesn’t like to wear any makeup but she is in movie business and some makeup is required to cover her rosacea infected cheeks. Real life Indu Verghese is prettier than Sai Pallavi IMO http://im.rediff.com/news/2014/apr/28major7.jpg
3) Sikandar Ka Muqaddar-> Netflix-> Cat and Mouse game with twists and turns and it was good except an open ending that hints a sequel. Lakshya Sir, watch it and you might like it.

Lucky Bhaskar was effective in detailing the Harshad Mehta scam that I doubt any movie had done before - maybe in a web series or two.RBee wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 10:37 am I too watched 3 movies in recent days.

Amaran was narrated from military spouse's POV and I am glad they didn't dwell on too much of war stuff since there are plenty of movies for that. Better get used to Sai Pallavi's look since she is gonna be the 21st century Sita! Already receiving flak for her Dravidian/Tamil progressive/woke values - https://www.indiatimes.com/entertainmen ... 33222.html

Re: New movies from OTT
Lucky bhaskar didn't work for me.. primarily because i started watching the movie in malayalam, thinking the things coming out of Dulquer Salman's mouth would make more sense in that language.. it did not work.. specially the bombay scenes, involving bhai's and all.. then i switched language to hindi to see if that would make more sense since the movie location is bombay and that was even more of a disaster.. because i kept not feeling the earthy bambaiyya basha and everything seemed mis matched mallu actor speaking hindi and non bambaiyya southie type story line.. in the end i guess it was sorta entertaining.. but the story of harshad mehta like dawood ibrahim has been beaten to death.. it didn't feel fresh and dulquer salman looks fat and whats with that hair.. i dunno maybe in telugu it was a good movie.. so yeah it was strictly ok..
siqandar ka muqaddar, i had high hopes given it was a neeraj pande movie.. again disappointing.. the story seemed too contrived.. and whats up with that hook in the end ? they want to make a sequel?.. Again - So So

Re: New movies from OTT
TELUGU made the difference since the original is in Telugu. I watch bits of it almost every day to learn Telugu - if Dulquer can speak Telugu, I can do so too!Razz R wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 10:12 am Lucky bhaskar didn't work for me.. primarily because i started watching the movie in malayalam, thinking the things coming out of Dulquer Salman's mouth would make more sense in that language.. it did not work.. specially the bombay scenes, involving bhai's and all.. then i switched language to hindi to see if that would make more sense since the movie location is bombay and that was even more of a disaster.. because i kept not feeling the earthy bambaiyya basha and everything seemed mis matched mallu actor speaking hindi and non bambaiyya southie type story line.. in the end i guess it was sorta entertaining.. but the story of harshad mehta like dawood ibrahim has been beaten to death.. it didn't feel fresh and dulquer salman looks fat and whats with that hair.. i dunno maybe in telugu it was a good movie.. so yeah it was strictly ok..

Re: New movies from OTT
Finished watching Paatal lok S2. Didn't know Nagaland Language sounds like Bengali and its similar to other North Indian languages. Would definitely love to visit Nagaland, there is train connectivity too to Dimapur and the state borders Myanmar. There is so much to explore in India!

Watched https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabrini_(film) - on the flight. It details how Italian Americans were persecuted a century ago and very relevant to what's going on now.
Another movie that I liked was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Burial_(film)- a classic David vs Goliath showdown. Great acting by Jamie Fox and Tommie Lee Jones.
