There are some expensive dentists in cities like Bangalore (usually in very rich neighborhoods) where the cost of services are higher compared to the rest of the country. I got a full set of dentures for my father last month in Mysore for 21K. Root canal and other procedures are a bit expensive in private clinics compared to the average Indian income, but overall the prices are much much lower compared to what it costs in the US even if you discount the dollar purchasing power parity. Medical education costing crores are for those who gets into the courses through management quota. MBBS course in government colleges costs just a few lakhs for those who gets the top tier seats though NEET. There is a set number of seats in private colleges which has government mandated fee structure of 5-6 lakhs per year. Then there is MD, the cost for those who makes it through PG NEET is less.
So the notion that medical degrees costs crores is India is only partially correct. I have first hand experience of health care in US and India. There is a big growth in the medical industry in India in the past 10+ years and in my opinion, the gap in terms of the quality of care has reduced. It is expensive for sure, but not anywhere near what it is in the US.
(A young relative of mine got diagnosed with advanced stage cancer few months back and I can say she got excellent treatment in one of the top notch hospitals in Bangalore and she is making remarkable progress and doctors are confident that she will be completely cured. And financially it was not a huge burden on the family. If she went to one of the top hospitals in the US, the treatment would not have been much different)

I wish you had posted earlier before we had to spend close to 2L for my MIL's dental work in a not-so-fancy 'clinic' (part of dentist's home converted) in Jayanagar. All is not lost though since I am visiting Bangalore next month and thinking of getting my root canal done and so, please pass on the details about the Mysore clinic, if you don't mind. I can also get a visit to Brindavana gardens in the bargain.
It appears that about half of the NEET seats are in private colleges and there are only 80K new doctors every year in India. It is as bad as US, where there are only 28K new doctors every year. US is in a bigger mess with the doctors per capita because of its ageing population.
Who knows, I might end up in Bangalore as well like OS2, especially because of my frugal mindset and the fact that my apartment is within walkable distance to a Appolo hospital and so no worries about the ambulances!

All is not lost though since I am visiting Bangalore next month and thinking of getting my root canal done and so, please pass on the details about the Mysore clinic, if you don't mind. I can also get a visit to Brindavana gardens in the bargain.

Cost depends on the type of cap you chose after the procedure, I felt the cost was a bit on the higher side though, but the doctor is good. Someone with Indian salary like me could afford it, definitely It will be just a pocket change for you, so don't worry

During my time in India, inflation was a raging perpetual issue. Maybe it doesn't impact NRIs and salaried folks anymore, but it hurts those with fixed income. It was sad to see my MIL spend 10% of her NW on just fixing her teeth since she wouldn't take any money from us.

I was taken to govt hospitals when I was a kid, since my family could not/ would not spend on private doctors. The best part of them was that I got to choose the color of the pills that I wanted to take, all of them did the same thing which was nothing. Recent experiences with deaths in the extended family, the private hospitals insisted them to take the dying to govt hospital, free hospice for a few hours.

Based on recent experience, the only way to get rid of household goods is to list it for free (not even $1) since folks are willing to haul away any junk if it's for free. As the old adage goes, one person's trash is another person's treasure. It works out much cheaper than getting dumpsters.
