After a gap of two decades, I became a Costco member online last December, since it came with a $40 egift card and it's at the same distance as Sam's club from where I live.
But, I am so scared of the crowds at Costco that I haven't been to the store yet to get a physical card. I already used up the egift card for buying some jewelry for my DW for her birthday.

I know a lot of my desi neighbors bought similar looking contemporary furniture from Costco with the express intention of returning it after a few years!

My DH gifted hexclad pots and pans sets which were on sale(whose prices match what Costco was offering) which is luxury to me as I prefer 2 pressure cookers and chapati/dosa tawas I brought from India 26 years ago

Oh I miss the free samples in Costco. For some reason the samples in the store taste better. Only problem is they employ seniors for it and they take long time to replenish the items.

I bought 10 big rolls (30 piece each) of Charmin Ultra and they are inside the container somewhere in Pacific. The packer laughed when he saw the hoard. I encashed the annual cash back check and next month will shut down the account.

Chamin Ultra strong is non-negotiable for me as well. I took only one roll for my 25-day trip and stole a couple of local cheap rolls in the hotels I stayed in. After all, we should get our money's worth for the 25K per night stays.
I used the Charmin only for the 'business end' and the local cheap roll for the cushioning and the one roll lasted me for the entire trip. Something to think about as a long-term strategy for you You can't keep importing since I am not sure if India puts tariffs on the toilet rolls!

That is the advantage of kids living in US. Already given a standing instruction to bring one pack (6 rolls) everytime they visit me. I shall just order on Wal-Mart and send it to their address one month before India trip. Also when I travel overseas plan to take one extra suitcase/duffel bag for this precious cargo. I think I got enough for next two years.

Way back in 1990 a group of Americans used to work with me on a project outside Delhi. Once a guy got up in the middle of the day, walked to the bathroom with a toilet roll in hand. We used to make fun 'dekho, gora paper ke bina rah nahi sakta". Did not realize one day I will become like him
