I watched 'Amar Singh Chamkila' on Netflix.

It is a biopic on a singer from Punjab and his wife who were murdered at peak of their career at a very young age of 27.

Diljit and Parineeti Chopra reprise the roles of singing couple (Chamkila and Amarjot).

Imtiaz Ali is trying to find his directorial groove back. Till 2015, his career had hits/critically acclaimed like Jab we met, Highway, Rockstar etc but since 2017, there were only flops. Movie is one time watch. AR Rahman has given the Music. Actors have sung in their own voices.

This movie makes you think on some topics.
- Crude lyrics/objectification of crime/women etc in culture-> Is it fault of entertainers or the public who encourage these. Huge box office success of Animal and Kabir Singh comes to mind.
- Polygamy-> Is it widely spread in entertainment industry as prime character is married with kids but he still goes for second marriage without informing his first wife nor his current love

Just watched the movie The Family Plan. Awesome movie featuring Mark Wahlberg. There are lots of similarities between this movie and the Family Man series. I love this kind of genre, than the kind of shitty action movies which bollywood is churning out.

I started watching Reacher too in Amazon Prime, but it started getting boring after 2-3 episodes.

Watched a couple of movies after a long time - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore_Saloon in Tamil on Sling - nice feel-good time-pass movie in the lines of VIP https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velaiilla_Pattadhari. Watched Merry Christmas in Hindi and was worth it with Kat still shining at 40.
Tried watching Animal and could not after the song Hua main - figured that was the best the movie had to offer.

Watched Laapataa Ladies on NetFlix.

Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and acted by mostly newcomers.

Very heartwarming story. 2 newly married brides get exchanged by mistake in Heartland(Madhya Pradesh). Story has how these ladies make best of this situation without too much preaching or blaming men for their misfortune. Happy ending at the end and restores faith in society that it still has decent people with good intentions.

People who say Bollywood mostly churns mindless violent movies like Animal or KGF2 should watch this. I recommend it very highly.

Second your comment. Very well made movie without over the top acting or screenplay.
Good entertainment.

Watched 'Tiger' docudrama about a mother tiger and her 4 cubs and how 3 of the cubs survive to become adults themselves and how life cycle repeats. Airing on Disney Plus. It started streaming on April 22, 2024 to honor Earth Day!

Priyanka Chopra(Jonas) is the English narrator.

Movie is not animated and movie makers took 1500 days to chronicle the journey of the mother and her cubs.

Lesson from movie to us humans:
1. Tiger mother teaches life skills to its children but will not share her food once they become capable of hunting themselves -> Why we worry about leaving inheritance once we have given education to our kids and they become capable of earning on their own?
2. Tiger father will only protect it's kids and will hunt down someone's kids, no sentiments whatsoever -> May be tigers learnt that Charity begins at home that everyone should protect their kids and if everyone did that, there is no need for external helpers

I don't watch any new movies or series except few like Art 370, Veer Savarkar etc. Last week watched Thanga Padakam - 1970s Sivaji movie. Surprised to see it was the original of Hindi movie Shakti. Similar story line with small changes. Shakti was more tragic, every scene was sad and my hand towel became wet. Tamil original was not that effective.

I am getting teared up that you didn't like Sivaji Ganesan's magnum opus!
