Tips and Tricks

Post by freeebird »

To avoid ads while watching youtube videos, do this on your laptop. Go to https://duckduckgo.com, download and install DuckDuckGo browser. It is open source and free. Start this browser, go to youtube.com and select the first video you want to watch. It will ask whether you want to watch in Duck player. Say yes and you will not see any ads when the video runs. Make it the default browser for this to happen when you click youtube video links. You can select the Duck player in settings too. This may work on smart phone also, but I haven't tried.

I recently learnt about a feature on my car that has always been there, but i had no clue. if you have a square flap under your headlights.( almost all decently expensive cars have them) looks like this

it means that you have a motorized spray that can be directed to clean your headlamps.. it does not come on when you use the wipe my windshield pull of the wiper switch.

the way to activate this you need to Push the light lever inward (in my 5 series this would be rotating the light switch all the way to the right), turn on the high beam, push the wiper lever inward, hold for two to three seconds. works best when you are driving so that the spray can effectively swirl washer fluid around the headlamps

On phone, download Brave Browser. Open youtube.com. No ads and continuous playback.

I watch YT on large screen tv using Roku. Recently my premium account expired and not willing to spend $20/m for the ad free premium service. Like Brave browser hack is there a way to watch in this mode? The ad comes every 5 min and it is annoying. I watch Indian news channel and lot of old Hindi movies on YT.

I have my old windows 10 desktop connected to large screen tv on HDMI and with a wireless keyboard. I have duckduckgo browser installed, as I mentioned in my earlier post here, and running YT ad free. It looks like Brave browser also does the same.

Not sure if Roku support casting/airplay/screen mirror etc. I have AppleTV and I can screen mirror from my iphone/mac.

Google up with uBlock Origin chrome extension. It is magical.

There are lot of videos on YouTube itself. For instance you can try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PayD5ZSVqog
