Re: Oscars
2025 edition missed the excitement of 2024 when Barbie/Oppenheimer lead the nominations.
Most women looked nice on red carpet and there was no excessive skin show.
Did not see any Indian actors/actresses eventhough show’s exceutive producer was Raj Kapoor ! (Not the grand dad of Kareena/Ranbir

ELon Musk doesnt like the fact that Oscars mandated 'considering' nominees from non white and male backgrounds.
According to Elon, this is messed up. Only the best should get oscars, not DEI.
6% of Oscar nominees in their history have been non-white and 17% of nominees women. There was no DEI before 2020. It means, Elon considers white men to be the best about 80% of the time.

Re: Oscars
This years Oscars were pretty boring. I think when they reach Oscars '100' in 2028 (coinciding with LA 28 Olympics) they should have the biggest celebration and end it for good. Sad to say this, but Hollywood and it's influence peaked in the 90s. Now it's a dead shell propped up by the billionaires up north.

Full disclosure, I would have watched it for a sum total of one hour in the last 25+ years.

Re: Oscars
Approximately 18.1 million people watched the Oscars this year, which is a 7% decrease from the previous year. Despite the drop, it was still the most-watched primetime entertainment telecast of the season so far.nodegree wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:47 am This years Oscars were pretty boring. Re: Oscars
C'mmon! Oscars a decade ago were definitely exciting. Every one had their picks for their favorite categories and all of them actors giving self important speeches and the whole spectacle was just aplomb. Now the whole affair feels a bit hollow and jaded. No Will Smith punching actors too.SAPPORO wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 10:31 amWhy this Kolaveri?nodegree wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:47 am This years Oscars were pretty boring. It's just an award ceremony and can't have "Naatu Naatu" every year!

Re: Oscars
Oh, the slap happened in the past couple of years. "Smith, Sadhguru and the Slap" could be a blockbusternodegree wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 6:01 pmC'mmon! Oscars a decade ago were definitely exciting. Re: Oscars
The story could be Smith learns from Sadhguru
how to control body and mind. And still ends up slapping the comedian. And thus nullifying teachings of Sadhguru

Re: Oscars
Sadhguru still going strong in spite of scandals and health scares. Watched him grace Shivaratri all night on TV, last week. Not sure if they serve Bhaang in South India!
