Bangalore to Indore? Indore is in Madhya Pradesh, and it's considered a Tier-3 city. I understand concerns about schools, but growing up in a smaller city could limit your daughter’s mindset and educational opportunities. Have you considered Pune or Ahmedabad instead? I can't say much about Pune, but Ahmedabad is safer, more advanced than Indore, and has become an educational hub. Also daily 6 flights to Banglore. You can find a typical 3-bedroom apartment for around 1.3 to 1.5 crores. Also, AD has no Regionalism crap so far. Yes, it's a relatively veg city.
Recently my uncle(US-NRI) bought an apartment in this township. YMMV--

Re: R2I 2025 April
Looks wd40 acted on my wild suggestion ( posted in the old forum) to have an affair and he just wanna get out of Singapore before the completion of the 9 months. Hence I believe it is final this time, Good luckwd40 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 5:55 amLol! Is that the only thing you found worth picking in my thread?r2somewhere wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 9:22 pmI have read about the '1 more year' syndrome, but this is the first time I have seen this in the wild lol
I suspect X+1, means X is a number in future, for example 3.
So something like "I will go to India after 3 years" and then you keep saying the same thing each year.
But I doubt anyone who says, "we are going to India next year", will then keep incrementing by 1.
1 year is pretty close that you need to plan a lot of things, so you cannot just keep postponing it indefinitely.
Anyways, in my case; it is 9 more months to go
Re: R2I 2025 April
Thank you Sir! The plan is to move to Bangalore, main reason is to be close to family and friends. This is a 5 years plan as of now until my daughter finishes 12th. After that wherever she finds college, we will try to move there.Lakshya wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 8:27 am Bangalore to Indore? Indore is in Madhya Pradesh, and it's considered a Tier-3 city. Haha, a frugal person like me cannot afford any such mischiefs in an expensive country like Singapore.
India is a different story as my friend @mn_op says

Great plan wd40. Wish you all the best for its success. All what is needed now is the execution part. Make sure your home is closer to your daughter's school.wd40 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 3:28 am
Next checkpoint is basically December. The good thing is Indian schools start admission for the following year in current year october itself. So we can finalize and lockin the school when we go for vacation in December. Then after my bonus is announced in Mar 2025, I make a soft verbal resignation to my manager asking him, if he has any options for me to WFH. If there no options, I will resign in Apr, 1 month notice period and in May end we come to Bangalore I take a break and think what to do next. If I get wfh option, we will still come back to Bangalore in May end and continue working.
So thats the plan!

Middle management: When you are an individual contributor, you can be a rockstar. Occasions come when you get 'that' jump to next level. Now the trouble starts .r2somewhere wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 9:33 pmWhen does one reach this level? I am 10+ years in and still depend on leetcode to get raises (by changing jobs).
Please allow me to explain. It is likely you would have a team at this point. So there are people looking at you, you will have peers competing with you and you want to go higher too.
To go higher from here, first you need contacts. Socialize outside your family life. Smile as though a pencil is stuck inside your mouth. In US, you have to be white or black. Indians rise high but NOT very high. Let's not talk about the Microsoft/Google CEOs, they are under immense pressure everyday!
You got to praise folks although you don't agree with them (a*** l*****g).
I have seen attractive looking girls shoot high in their career ladder. Weird!

Perish such thoughts. It is not easy for the kid to get visa for higher studies as many countries are tightening the rules. Chances of getting visa for parents to go with the kid is close to zero. Better let the kid do HS and UG in India. Then try for masters in country like Germany which is still easy to get and they teach in English at masters level.
Re: R2I 2025 April
Sustaining is becoming more and more difficult. Having moved here 2 years back so far i could pull it for 2 years. Being a contractor it is more difficult.
Son is stil lstudying. daughter is wrapping up her masters in feb 2025. Hoping she gets a job in after feb 2025.

You are right Sir, I also plan for Indian undergrad, unless under exceptional circumstances.old-spice2 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 2:15 pmPerish such thoughts. Hence, I plan CBSE, where most kids will be locals/out of state Indian passport holder kids.
I want to refrain from putting my daughter in IB/Cambridge schools because the cohort will be mostly OCIs whose plan is to move to their country of citizenship as a default route.
In my post the part which you quoted and highlighted, by move, I meant anywhere within India, including within Bangalore.
Next 5 years we rent near daughter's school.
After that we rent near daughter's college.
Even if my daughter gets college in Bangalore, Bangalore is so big, going from one part of the city to the other part is like travelling to another city.
So my plan is to take advantage of the flexibility of renting.

Wow! If citizens are finding it so difficult, then visa holders it is going to a mammoth task unless they are high achievers.Srini234 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:58 am Sustaining is becoming more and more difficult. I watched a podcast about a stanford masters guy, who was on H1B took the EB5 route to green card by investing 800K into a real estate project!
I was like wow! Indians are now taking this route for greencard?
