I watched 'Sector 36’ based on true serial murders that happened in Noida around 2005-2006 though Netflix claims this as fictional to avoid legal trouble. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Noida_serial_murders
What bothered me was inclusion of the serial killer’s childhood etc to give a sympathetic angle to him but no sympathy for the victims/victim’s families .
Nearly 26 children/underaged minors/adolescent school going girls were murdered by 2 monsters(a serial killer and a paedophile) but one of the prime accused person is roaming free now due to his powerful connections and because UP’s courts found the investigation to be botched up..Makes me lose faith in India’s justice system!!
Though main actors have acted well (Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal, Darshan Jariwala, Akash Khurana), movie makes you sick!!

Re: New movies from OTT
Watched https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IC_814:_T ... har_Hijack on Netflix and enjoyed it. Arvind swami was as charming as ever and the entire cast did a great job and last but not the least the dialogs were well written (had to stay it since one of my close relatives was part of the writing team!). Not sure why they wrapped it up quickly in the end and did not use the real names.

Re: New movies from OTT
Ajith Doval shown as a caricature and Naseeruddin Shah played his dream role to express his anger against the Government (which he could not have in real life ). Terrorists also have a "human side" and their names are "Bhola" and "Shankar" . Other than that it was well made.SAPPORO wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 11:15 am Watched https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IC_814:_T ... har_Hijack on Netflix and enjoyed it. Re: New movies from OTT
Watched https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khel_Khel ... 2024_film) on Netflix. It must have been inspired by the Malayalam movie https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12th_Man_(film) but no such credits were given.
Decent comedy with progressive overtones like acceptance of gays, IVF and female sexual autonomy. At this rate, India is becoming more progressive than the US, and should she lose this election, maybe Kamala can R2I and try her luck in politics there Some dialogs were well written including Akshay's counsel to her teenage daughter on you know what.

Watched https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiyazhagan on Netflix and liked it. Great movie on Nostalgia and finer things in life. Brilliant performances by Arvind swamy and Karthi. A must watch for NRIs!
Re: New movies from OTT
saw both meiyazhagan and khel khel mein - good time pass movies.. the former felt a bit rubbery in parts in terms of drama.. but overall decent watch.. and akshay kumar was stellar in KKM

Re: New movies from OTT
Watched https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laughing_Buddha_(film) in Kannada on Prime- nice clean comedy that doesn't show police as heroes or villains as most Indian movies do.
