Share your college admission experience

Post by Lakshya »

In the old forum, I think I discussed my nephew's master application in robotics.

Here's an update:

I do not recall how many schools he applied to. But I believe a few ivy rejected him, and one placed him on a waitlist. An additional 4–5 schools accepted him. (From CA-MA-NY-AZ).

He decided to attend NYU-Tandon School of Engineering for various reasons.

They offer decent scholarships.

Logistic: 1 hour far from his uncles (we two brothers) and grandparents  On weekends, vacations, etc., he can stop by.

He got an I-20, and I was surprised that NYU visited different cities in India for accepted students. (must be lucrative business for them.) The NYU representative stated that their visas typically do not face any rejection. Let us see. He has visited the United States twice, and his immigration file is already in Que.

Hope one more family member will join us. Now only this kid's mom, dad, and sister are left. They still have 5–6 years left for the immigration file to move fwd. Surprisingly, his girlfriend is also in the United States, and she studies robotics in California.

Congrats to your nephew on admission to NYU - Tandon
It's a good one. Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon's grant is being put to good use.
Also, congrats to him on finding a girlfriend who shares the same wavelength :D
